Will the kaby lake i7 7700 work on my asus H110M-E motherboard

I cannot seem to find a definitive answer, it is the same socket so I am hopeful it would work, can anyone help??

Needs a BIOS update to support it, and you need a skylake CPU to do the bios update.

Yes it would work. You just have to update your bios. Bios version 3016 or above.

I can update the bios, I'm on a i5 6400 right now, thinks it's worth the upgrade? Or should I buy a new MB?

if you lookup that moptherboard on the asus website you will find release notes for the latest BIOS verion which will tell you what CPU's it supports

Depends on the application you are using. For games, not so much. For multimedia editing and mass multi-tasking then its a worth it upgrade. New h270 motherboards do not provide that much new features hence buying a new one is not advisable. However, i would advise it if you are going to buy a z270 and an unlocked chip, which ofcourse, you have to overclock.

It would be a solely gaming PC, the i5 6400 is decent put the low clock speed is noticeable
