Hi. My Fx-6300 is bottlenecking my GTX 1060, and I want a cheap temporary fix before I can buy a new motherboard, new RAM, and an i5 or Ryzen CPU. Is it compatible with my motherboard? It is an MSI 760GMA-P34? If not, what is a better option?

It supports it with the right BIOS.

I would only put an E series 95w 8 core on that board.

The FX8300 is a 95w and is compatible , but I wouldn't bother investing in FX as it's soon to be EOL.

+1 on what SR-71 said.

I would not waste the money. It has the same slow cores as the 6300 just has 2 more of them. You will barely notice any improvement.

Just save your money it will be $100 more towards your next build.

Besides the 6300 can't be bottlenecking it THAT bad that games are unplayable. I run a Phenom II X6 1100T which is a little faster and I have not problem with almost any game at 1080p.

You may be able to attach one, but
your motherboard is a poor quality one which really will not support a FX-8350.

And... you will not be able to overclock to any degree.

FX cores are slow so since few games can make use of more than 2 or 3 threads, adding two more cores will not help.

If your needs are immediate, Intel is the way to go.
As little as a I3-7100 will give you a boost in most games.
Here is a review which included a I3-6320 and a FX-8370.
The I3-6320 is about the same as the i3-7100.

The nice thing is that the lga1151 motherboard will support any upgrade all the way up to a I7-7700K.

GTA V on nvidia recommended settings is running at 40fps on average. Lowest settings 1768 x 992 runs 67 fps or lower. If it isnt the CPU, something else is bottlenecking.

I have $160 I can spend on a new processor that fits my motherboard, or $160 for both a motherboard and an intel CPU. Help me please ;-;

40fps is playable, not perfect but playable. The CPU is bottlenecking I never said it was not, I just said it should not be THAT bad. However spending money on that platform is a waste. The FX-8300 will barely run any faster.

Do not spend $160 on your current motherboard. Save that 160 towards an Intel setup.
