Recently, my PC refuses to start properly without having to turn of the power on the main power terminal.

If i shut down my PC during the night and try to turn it on the morning when i wak up or later, it just gives a black screen with a semi broken secondary screen plugged in. Without the screen plugged in my main screen shows the BIOS screen and then proceed to a message telling me to connect a system drive or put in a CD. I have tried going into the BIOS setup during this and it shows that my Intel 600P M.2 SSD isn't connected.

When i turn off the power completely on the main power terminal and turn the power on again, the PC starts like normal and the SSD is detected. Turning the power on/off on the PSU doesn't work. Removing the SSD and resetting it into the socket will let the PC turn on.

While the PC is powered down the GPU LED is still on which is pretty odd. I have also begun to get some coil whine but i have no idea where it's coming from yet.

So my theory is that:
A. the motherboard is broken and needs to be replaced

or

B. there is a problem with my SSD.

I will attempt to do some mild system resetting if i get the time for it. Else any suggestions or help would be very appreciated.

Solution
It's also likely the power supply is bad. If you think it's an issue with the SSD, try another hard drive in the system. If you have an add-on video card try to boot the system without it. Try a different SATA cable also.
