PC Spec:
AMD A8 7650k Turbo to 3.8
Cooler Master TX3 EVO
R9 270 Gigabyte
550w PSU
Gigabyte F2A88XM-D3H
1TB HDD
120GB SSD

Goals: Reach 60 FPS AVG with Good Settings in the following games:
GTA V (Normal)
CSGO (max settings)
Overwatch (Ultra)
StarWars BattleFront (Medium)

My budget for an upgrade would be $400.

Should I wait for Ryzen to upgrade my CPU or just purchase an I3 7100?

I was also leaning towards an R9 390 Upgrade if possible but most people say that the CPU would bottleneck the hell out of the R9.

I am able to upgrade my pc $400 AUD every 2 months, so what should I upgrade first?

Solution
400 every two months .. nice I wish I had that kind of budget.... I am more like 1500$ every 5 years

waiting for zen is all if you are a hardened AMD lover. and I wont dispute that, nor truly discuss it, but going to upgrading to an A-10 CPU for your system at this point would be a waste of 250$ when it could be used elsewhere.
could you please identify make/model of your PSU and HDD (just for accuracy in my listing is all)

As for the R9 390 it has less power than a GTX 970 so I would skip over that and the RX 480 as well.

so here is what I would change over in stages on your computer if it was mine.

if you are like me you might of kept the brackets for your cooler to install on other systems maybe not. but for start the basics...

Solution
How about replacing only the processor, motherboard and GPU.
Keep the rest of your rig incl your DDR3 RAM,
And go for Hasswell platform , i5 4590, a cheap H97 and GTX1060/RX480?
You can also look for secondhanded items, if you want and can get good prices.

Going for the i3/i5 7xxx or waiting for Ryzen is the better choice tho'.
