hey folks, Its been really annoying when my cpu throttles pretty often while on using heavy applications in my laptop which is HP 15 ac-083TX specs are Intel Core i3-5010u, 4GB DDR3 1600Mhz, AMD R5 M330 2GB DDR3. I use AutoCAD a lot and some casual gaming and AutoCAD sucks after 25-30 Min. And titles around 2011-12 also start to suck like that only.
Any solution? Kept at high performance mode and it seems i have very limited bios settings...followed the mentioned steps in the link but no good..

Does this mean I need more RAM or its just the cpu overheating?

Solution
The U-series chips typically run high turbo boost for a limited period of time, and then throttle back to TDP constraints. They are usually put in laptops with not very good cooling solutions. You could try using a better thermal paste on the cooler, or a chill pad as mentioned.

And yeah, 4 GB RAM just isn't enough. You probably fill that up and the laptop chokes paging out to the swap file.
I would toss that 4gb of ram and slap 16gb in that laptop, then toss the HDD and put an SSD in it , I bet you the "throttling " will poof away.
why?> because the 4gb is forcing a massive pagefile.sys files to be created and forces the system to be constantly swapping memory for pagefile to manage the memory it truly needs, booting to 16gb will permit this to be reduced ALOT. the SSD being far more performant will further reduce this problem.

it is the only improvements I can suggest to a laptop

cpus throttle back (downclock) because something is close to overheating to protect the parts. If you were to succeed to turning off throttling you'd probably destroy your system.

Are you sure you're talking about throttling? if you are that means the laptop is not cooling itself properly, you can try a cool pad to prevent the overheating.

Sidenote. your laptop is really underpowered for CAD, I wouldnt suggest anyone try AUTOCAD with anything less then an i7 and probably 16gb of ram

This will be good?

CAS Latency matches and is low voltage.
I want dual channel memory and 4GB of samsung-make is already installed
