Why does my R9 Fury lean away from my PCI-E Slot?

Hey,

I have recently bought the AMD R9 Fury Nitro from Sapphire and the H270 Bazooka from MSI. I wanted to know whether the Fury actually fits on the motherboard so i have just installed it on the motherboard to test it. Turns out ,although it's one of the biggest GPU's out there, it still fits on the mATX motherboard but for some reason leans to one side. What i mean is, that the GPU does not sit firmly in the PCI-E slot, it's basically moving to it's heavier side.

There you can see what i mean. In the first picture, i'm not touching it and you can see that the GPU is leaning away from the PCI-E slot, because it's very heavy. If you have trouble seeing it, just focus on the bottom edge of the GPU. You can clearly see that the right corner is closer to the motherboard than the left corner, so basically it has a tilt. In the second picture i'm applying a bit of pressure so the GPU sits straight in the PCI-E slot without bending to one side. Now i'm afraid to actually mount this into my case because i don't want anything to break. I know that it will have some extra support by the case once it's mounted but it still seems very instable.

Have you had experience with something like this and is it normal that my GPU does not sit firmly in the slot?

GPU sag is pretty common in a tower case. If your build has the motherboard on its back then it won't matter at all, the expansion slot will hold it vertical.

I recently saw a neat idea. A 3D printed expansion slot cover that has a ledge to hold a graphics card farther towards the front of the case.

I gave shapeways a quick search for it, did find a few custom PCIe card supports, but not the one I saw which I though was a pretty good idea. A lot more professional looking than basically a prop to the bottom of the case.

Old school computers had full length card supports at the front of the case, usually attached to the intake fan. Never used one, everything shrank before GPUs starting getting big again. My old Voodoo is pretty long though. Molex power...
