hey, i've been getting extra ping than normal, always when i play with IRL friends they i get like 20-30 ms more. my internet download speed is 100 mbps. (and i dont do something on my pc or others do that cause lags)

i just want to make sure if the problem isn't because the modem is in the living room and not in my room like it used to be, does that affect ping ?

now also i have to mention i am connected wired through a router in my room. before that i had router+modem combo in my room and now the modem is in the living room and i got only a router in my room. i just want to make sure if that's the problem or its just something with the ISP.

Solution
Assuming modem is hard wired to router which is hardwired to your PC then no, ping times will have little to no impact (maybee a fraction of a milisecond).
The impact happens as soon as you use wifi to connect, then you see larger ping times.

The only thing that make a difference moving the modem is if the coax line in living room has a bad connection to it.
