I was thinking of upgrading my current gpu ( https://ca.msi.com/Graphics-card/R6770MD1GD5.html#hero-overview) to a new one, but I wasnt sure which direction to head in.

Im thinking between a MSI GeForce GTX 1060 6GB and a Radeon RX 460 4GB. Is the GTX 1060 worth the extra money? Im using it for moderate gaming, preferably atleast 45-60fps (Mainly games like PAYDAY2, XCOM2, etc)

Any input is appreciated!

Neither AMD nor Nvidia have bothered to repopulate their low end cards. With such a large chunk of the market relying on Intel iGPU and AMD setting up to release a new line of APUs I don't think there will be anything less then these guys, possibly ever again. It is basically mid-level gaming as a minimum.

There is a big leap from the 460 to the 1060, both in price and performance. Also do you have a power supply unit that 6/8 pin connection to the GFX card? The 460 will run on just the power from your motherboard. Are you playing in 1920*1080 or less?

I think my PSU should handle it no problem, I have this: https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438059&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwordsCA&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwordsCA-_-DSA-_-CategoryPages-_-NA&gclid=COy9j4248tECFRC1wAodurEF8Q

1920*1080 is perfect for me, higher resolution is always better though aha.

That card looks really good, especially for the price! Im very surprised how cheap you can get these cards now

The 470 is so close to 480 in pricing, then you might as well make the call between 1060 and the 480. Which really comes down to what you prefer, as the performance with the latest drives is very close (Slight edge for AMD in DX12). The 4GB AMD 480 are under $200 now, often around $180. The Geforce with 3GB is barely 10$ more expensive. The 460 starts around $100.

List your computer hardware specs please.

Wow, im surprised how well that card competes with the 1060! They seem pretty on par with one another, but the rx470 is a bit cheaper, hmmmm

No contest. The 1060 is 2.3 times faster

1060 = 2.3 x the performance of 460
1060 = 1.35 x the performance of 470

And not that you are comparing reference 1060s against the factor overclocked 460, so difference is even wider
