I've been looking for a good x99 motherboard but when I find one with good reviews I see that some are 2 years + old. I'm looking for a way to determine which motherboards are the newest for each manufacturer. The information is not on their websites.

There is some value in ordering an older motherboard.
There has been more time to get the inevitable bios glitches ironed out.

You can go to the motherboard support link and look at the bios update history for some idea.

I like to look at the newegg negative(0 or 1egg) reviews to see what sort of issues exist. Many are not valid, so discount those.
Do not be alarmed if you see many. Those with no issues do not post.

FWIW, I am not certain I would be investing in X99 now.

Is that pci lanes, or pcie lanes?
It might help to know what needs to use those pci lanes.

What is your application?
I am thinking it is not the usual gaming/rendering question so often seen here.
