Slow internet speed on ubuntu 16.04

I have installed ubuntu on my laptop but I have a significant decrease in internet speed. For games I get a much higher ping than on windows 10 and my download rate is halved. Since this is my first time using Ubuntu, can anyone help?

Welcome to linux which is a learning experience

New to ubuntu i will ask for some information. Which anyone will need to help as atljsf listed. And give you a link for wifi networking. But if you are playing online games a ethernet cable is better faster than wifi. Open a terminal and post back the output of

Sudo lspci -v

This will show us your system hardware

One more

sudo lshw -C network

If you get an error output than

sudo apt install lshw

than try the again

sudo lshw -C network

This will show us what is going on.
