Ok so to start I have an Asus P6T7 WS SuperComputer motherboard. My current hard drive is some old western digital with around 200 gb I was actually able to use.

Here is the new one I'm ordering -
HGST Ultrastar 7K4000 HUS724030ALE641 (0F17731) 3TB 64MB Cache 7200RPM SATA III 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Enterprise Internal Hard Drive (Certified Refurbished) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LYVD7ME/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_Si.Kyb7Z6EEQC

So clearly my question is, is this compatible with my motherboard? I am also purchasing - Mudder 5 Pack 18 Inch SATA III 6.0 Gbps Cable https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CZD91MW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_wn.KybPCDZ1BJ as it seems to be what I need with this hard drive.

Anything else I might need to know? It's an old motherboard. Thanks!

Definatly get the 7200 RPM, that way you won't be insanely slow (like laptop loading times slow) when you do switch mobos. SATA III has 6 Gb/S data transfer rate whereas SATA II has only 3 Gb/S. The biggest difference would be between a HHD and SSD

Ok, thanks. Slower in what way, though, in comparison to any other hard drive? Would it be better to get 5400 rpm for instance? Or does 7200 still make a difference? I'm likely to get a new motherboard and CPU a year from now or something, so I'm sure going with this HDD will be sort of an investment in that regard.
