So i recently built my new pc, and i'm unsuccessfully trying to install windows 7 through USB["unable to find drivers" during install]. I looked it up and it said that if i switched the SATA mode to IDE it should work. However, when i go into the SATA configuration, the only option i'm given is AHCI. I'm using an MSI B150 Gaming M3 motherboard. Help please, thanks in advance.

to load windows 7 on a skylake platform you got to use the windows7 install tool - should be under your motherboards download support page under most times utilities

looks like its called MSI smart tool '' Application to easy install Windows 7.''

for the most part you really want to use ahci on this modern stuff ide is a more compatibility setting and platter drives

you can look at other brands skylake windows 7 info as well

same thing just intel and Microsoft pretty much wante to stick you with that win-10 only and you may run in...
This is likely happening because you're installing Windows 7 on a Skylake system (maybe, I'm not sure). This is why it's a good idea to list ALL system specs here. Basically Microsoft teamed up with Intel to screw us all into using Windows 10. First off, make sure you're using a USB 2.0 port (not 3.0). Windows 7 does not have built in support for USB 3.0. Else, there are a couple of work arounds:

-Get the update/patch from MSI. When I installed on an MSI B150M Mortar LGA 1151 a few months back, it came with a special disc.

-<removed by moderator> Intel and Microsoft, and install Windows 10.
