what motherboard is best for the i7-4820k

The 4820K is a 4 generation old discontinued quad core. Motherboards have been out of production for a long time and prices have become inflated, making them often significantly more expensive than boards for newer CPUs. The best board will be whatever you can find, since they're not being made anymore.

My opinion, it may be a better option to sell the i7 and buy a newer i5 or i7. You'll probably both get a faster CPU and come out ahead financially.

i got the cpu for £90 and ive tested it on my mates MOBO and it worked, however his is like £200-300 i cant afford that. im using it for college work and my youtube channel has kicked off so i need it for gaming aswell

That's cheap for the CPU, but those CPUs are cheap because motherboards for them are generally horribly expensive. Chances are good you'll spend more in total than had you gone with a brand new (and probably just as fast or faster) Core i5.

I must add to Ecky's post, the X79 platform's after their EOL cycle ended up having a lot of RMA's. If the board went well then you were in good hands, if the board went bonkers for some reason then you'd have to cough up some serious dough to proceed to find another similar board(with warranty).

For the cost of the board you've found(on the link above) you can buy an entry level Kabylake board...which begs to ask, is it worth shelling this much? You also didn't share the rest of your specs...
