i can connect but when i log out the wifi adapter vanishes and then i have to log back in serveral times before the wifi comes back.
what happens when i log in , it says that no wifi connection is available, when i go into the device manager theres is no Qualcomm Atheros adapter there

What did you mean by wifi adapter?
Did you mean the SSID or signal of the network?
wifi network password?
Or the wifi receiver?

You can try to refresh the signal list by pressing F5
When logging in to a network, make sure you tick the "connect automatically" checkbox to remember the password and connecting it automatically if network is available.

You can also try to reset your network adapter.
Open CMD/windows command prompt > right click on it and run as administrator > type netsh winsock reset.

ok there seems to be some confusion, when i log in there is no wifi conections to log into , there are no network connections to log into , if i press the wifi button nothing happens , i have updated that as well , then after i log back in the network connections reapear and it connects automatically

Press F5 to refresh your wifi connection list.
Or get yourself stand or sit near the wifi router. To get in network range and get the best signal possible.

There is no list to refresh, it only comes up with plug in ethernet

Okay, now I know, It must be something with driver and windows OS.
Try to disable and re enable your WLAN controller in device manager.
Or uninstall the device, then refresh device manager.

Final, "not fun" yet effective way to fix this is reinstalling windows from scratch.
But try all solution above including resetting winsock before reinstalling your OS

It's your Atheros AR9485 controller.
