Hello,

I have an intermittent issue when coming out of sleep mode. Sometimes things work find but maybe 1 out of 4 times either the screen will not get a signal from the video card or there will be an image but the entire pc is frozen including the mouse pointer.

Each time this issue happens I can go into my event log and see "Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered."

This seems to point to the issue being related to my graphics card driver. Any suggestions? I already disabled "Hybrid Sleep" but that did not help.

I had similar problems in the past and if I remember correctly, I followed some instructions to edit the Windows registry for the Windows TDR (Timeout Detection & Recovery) Delay.

You can find out about it HERE

Maybe unrelated to your issue, however It might be worth noting that I was experiencing this more often on games which I had installed on an SSD, which was giving me problems due to the SATA cable being loose. So I think there was a data transfer issue from the faulty drive which stalled the GPU when trying to process data to/from the VRAM - Which in turn made it time out; then recover.

I cannot recall fully but a mixture of the reg edit, fixing the SATA cable of the SSD, and also using DDU to reinstall the graphics drivers seemed to stop the problem. Not sure of the root cause between these three issues.

Here is what your problem is to do with connected hardware or devices not working right after sleep or hibernation modes are used in windows 10 ect, and why your video driver for the graphics card is crashing on the system you have.

You will need to restart your system, and enter the bios setup menu options of your motherboard.
Once in the bios, look for the option of APCI, and make sure it is enabled.

On the same page you will see a selection of numbers S1 to S4 select the S1 /S4 power mode setting.

Make sure the Hpet option of the motherboard is also set to enabled.
or High computer performance in the bios settings.

Once done you need to save all the changes you have made in the bios before you exit it.

Ok so new bios setting are saved and windows, or the system you have power cycles and restarts.
Let windows load, and if you have not done so you will need to locate the Dvd that came with the system, or the motherboard that contains all of the drivers for the motherboard.

Simply install all of the drivers on the dvd disk to windows.
Then once you have installed all of them restart the system once again.

The next time you use the windows Sleep mode or hibernation option the whole system will enter that mode for low power consumption.

And when you press any key on your keyboard or a mouse button the system will fully wake up without the system freezing or completely locking up on you Protivakid ok.

Job`s a good one fixed.!

Storage devices not returning from sleep mode is a problem that can sometimes be resolved by BIOS adjustments (sometimes not, as there's a known MoBo design bug fixed in later steppings) but I've not seen this result in a display driver error message before.

I tried all of the suggestions below but still have the issue.

I don't have a "TdrDelay" key in my registry in that branch. Maybe it's because I am on Windows 10?

Yes I installed the drivers right from AMD's site and verified that was the version in use.

APCI is enabled.

I do not have an S1/S4 option in my bios, only S1, S3, or S1/S3. I have tried both S1/S3 and just S3 and still have the issue.

I have tried both HPET 32-bit and HPET 64-bit. Both options still have the same issue.

The windows event logs points to the AMD drivers, not my storage drivers. I only have two internal drives.
