Solution
It is likely that in order to be able to run the I5 2500 cpu in the cpu socket of the motherboard.

That you will first have to flash the bios of the motherboard in order for it to recognise and work with the new I5 cpu placed in the cpu socket WixHD.

You will need to put the old cpu back in the system, let the motherboard power up, and then enter the bios setup of it.
Write down the bios firmware revision of the current bios it says in programmed.

Then you will need to get the Brand name of the motherboard you have and it`s model number.
Go to the motherboard makers website, where you will be able to check if there is a more upto date bios firmware file for your motherboard in revision number.

Download it, unpack or zip the file...

The Celeron G530 and I5-2500 both require the same BIOS version (F5) so if it worked with the G530, it should work with the I5-2500 as well. Double check your connections. Make sure all is secure. If they all check out, then I'd probably break it all down again and check the CPU socket for any damage.

Download it, unpack or zip the file if compressed to a named folder.
And then from the website or the motherboard user manual if you still have it.
Read the section of how to update the bios firmware revision for the motherboard model number you have WixHD ok.

After you have updated the bios firmware revision number of the motherboard it will be able to see and use the new I5 2500 cpu when placed in the cpu socket of the motherboard and the system is first powered on ok.
