I plan on building a gaming rig, I have opted for dual Asus strix gtx 1080 cards with sli and 128gigs of ddr4 memory. Which cpu and motherboard combination would be compatible with the above mentioned memory and vram. any cpu with high frequency is good, please suggest one with high over clicking rate.also a gaming motherboard to go with the cpu and 128 gigs of ddr4 memory

On that note, there is no such thing as having a high overclocking rate. You have overclocking taking precedence by trial and error and by having parts that are compatible with each other to take you to that overclocked number.
How about you pass on the parts you've already picked out...including the make and model of the kit for your rams, PSU and case? A budget would help us narrow down the parts as well a link of where you want to buy the suggested parts?

And even cpu's have their max which they can controll which for i7 7700K for instance would be 64gb's as well.
Don't even understand why you would want 128gb for a gaming rig.If you want more than enough get 32gb and be fine for years to come.
