Hello!
I just upgraded my home server's CPU from an Intel g630 to i5-3570k. I have a very small case (CM elite 110) with the PSU mounted downwards to pull hot air from the CPU fan directly below it. The i5 generates much more heat, will this damage my fairly old seasonic psu? It's running 24/7 and I don't like fires :)

Solution
Had this setup with my old case, top mounted XFX PRO, AMD Phenol II x4 955BE with a Scythe Katana 2 cooler.

That computer is still running after 7-8 years without issues

If the PSU is sufficient quality it shouldn't be a problem
No it will not damage it as long as the PSU fan is still in working condition. That case is designed to pull hot are out of the top part of the case case with the PSU so it is not a danger. All is normal, the only adverse effect it will have is your PSU will have a higher internal temp causing the fan to spin faster to keep it cool.
