Calling on skype makes my CPU go up to 60 degrees.

Hey all.

I have a small, but weird phenomenon happening.

Whenever I call someone on skype, my CPU fan goes faster and my CPU temperature climbs to 60 degrees celsius. I have an USB headset and if I unplug the headset, the CPU temp/CPU fan go back to normal even if I re-plug it. It only happens when I call, until i unplug/replug. It doesn't matter which USB port I use either. And it doesn't happen in any game or on youtube, or by just having the USB headset connected.

Is this just some issue with skype or is there something I need to look into?

Maybe your headset is causing the trouble, maybe it's a weird bug. If you have another pair of headphones but not USB try using skype normally with those. If it's staying on normal temperatures I would say that your headset is causing some weird bugging.
Let us know how it goes.
Cheers.

I'll see if I can find the other pair I had a couple of years ago. The thing is, I've also tried plugging in the 3.5 jacket, but that doesn't work. Doesn't matter if I plug into the case or into the monitor, it's as I had unplugged it, i.e off.

You're saying that plugging in the 3.5 jack headphones doesn't work at all, as if it doesn't function at all? Is your PC registering it?

Nope. Nothing happens. Tried playing a video on youtube, thinking that maybe the volume/mute thingy wouldn't glow with 3.5 jack, but alas no sound.

EDIT: I forgot to check Sound - Playing Devices (might be incorrect name for it - I've Swedish Windows) and when I disconnect the USB, the headset disappears. When I connect the 3,5 jacket it appears.

That sounds like a sound driver issue or maybe your jack ports are damaged in some case.
Getting back on the USB thingy, I've done the same thing now and my cpu temps rise a few degrees. So I would probably guess that's normal. Try other programs that use internet, sound (teamspeak) and probably video in the same time and if it does that maybe your cpu has an issue. As for a solution I am not completely sure what you should do. If all fails, your best bet is a clean win/lin/mac install.
Good luck, mate!
Cheers.

I even tried the sound to see if the bars would move, and yes they do. But there is no sound.

I have played games and stuff with the headset connected and it is neither more nor less if I have it connected/disconnected.

It shows up in the Audio Devices and I if play a youtube video, I see the bar moving. Weird that I can't hear anything though.

EDIT: Tried it on another computer, same issue with the 3,5 jacket thing. I believe it's the headset jacket that is messed up or drivers for the jacket. Or that the drivers for the USB headset doesn't work with 3,5 jacket.
