My mic quality used to be insanely good, it sounded so smooth, but then one day i started up my pc and i joined discord, and everyone was saying my mic quality had been reduced. I then did a Skype test that confirmed this theory. I have checked in the system settings that the bit rate is as high as it can be (1 channel, 16 bit, 48khz (DVD quality) I have changed nothing and am really confused about how it has suddenly gone bad.
In my recording software (what used to be Nvidia Shadow play) Nvidia share, my mic quality sounds as smooth as it did, but just in everything else it sounds bad. It is also not just discord and Skype that has it bad. I have opened multiple games and used voice chat, and all of them have the same problem: Bad mic quality.

My microphone is a USB Sades 7.1 Headset, the exact one i have i cannot find on amazon anymore. It is plugged in a usb 3.0 port. (ive tried other ports and it still has the same problem)

Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi,
I have also had some troubles lately. When I tracked them down, it turned out to be Windows 10 Pro Microsoft auto updates. The device drivers for my system sound and my Nvidia graphics card had been "updated" with Microsoft generic drivers.

You didn't give any specifications on your system, but I would look at the drivers for your microphone first. You may have to reinstall the device to correct the problem. I would also suggest looking at the update history around the date that your microphone started having issues.

It could also just be a hardware issue with the microphone itself.
