CPU cooler too low for MSI Z270 mobo?

Trying to install a 'Be Quiet, Pure Rock Slim' cooler on a 'MSI Z270-A PRO' mobo.

Only 2 cooler pins at a time will click into the mobo, if I try to press the 2 pins on the other side the pressure seems a bit much and the pins on the opposite side come out.

^2 pins on the left side click in, if right side clicks in left side comes up.

Can the cpu / cpu bay be to high for the cooler base? Or am I overlooking something?

1151 i5-7600K - cooler is 1151 compatible.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Forgot one thing: the pins must be at correct position before you start installation, otherwise they will not hold. It's hard to explain that in words, I strongly recommend checking CPU manual as pins at this cooler work EXACTLY the same way as those at box cooler.
If they say it's compatible, then it is compatible. But nobody said installation is going to be easy. :)...
Let's see:
1....2
..oo..
..oo..
3....4
1,2,3,4 are pins, so:
- push pins 1 and 4 at the same time until they 'click'
- now do the same for pins 2 and 3
- check if it's firmly attached
and you should be good.

It's basically the same procedure as for installation of intel box cooler, so you can check CPU manual if my explanation seems strange.

Maybe I have to accept it is a bit of a loose system by 'Be Quiet' Checking if all pins are connected usually means you pull one out. It seems to work for all 4 now but you can't really touch anythings or one comes loose...

It is good advice by DRagor if the parts would be compatible. I assumed it was installed correct, but moving the mobo vertical resulted in the cooler falling off. It's just impossible to have all 4 pins connected at once. The cpu socket is to high for this cooler.

Not sure why Be Quiet says it's compatible with the 1151 socket, seems not te be the case with all.

It may be actually other way to do this, but I think it's even more pain. You could install base first, then put cooler on base and screw it together using that weird device that comes with it. But since it would need to be done blindly ...

Double checked, the cpu was properly in the socket.
I tried to press the pins a bit harder since nothing seemed to be in danger. And they all clicked.

Now at 1st startup nothing happends. (Tested the power supply and it works) I don't think the cpu is damaged, but would the MOBO start the BIOS with a damaged CPU?
