Taxes coming back shortly and I would like to get a current GPU. I know mine probably doesn't need to be updated but I am the type of person if I am 3 yrs or more out on tech I want current. So please point me in the correct direction as to what is on par with that card these days.

I have not been following anything tech wise lately. I have an i7 3770k at 4.2 with 32gb ram this monitor ASUS PB278Q. I do a great deal of photoshop work and blender work not much gaming.

I just want a current GPU on par with the 6950. It can be AMD or NVIDIA. I have a Seasonic 650w psu in the build so that should handle most current GPU's

yes but msi also makes great cards, gigabyte is another great manufacturer, asus has one but i think it is a blower style fan, a bit noisy, the one you get, is better i it has 2 fans, better temperature management and less noise

about murder, well, it is at least 3 times better than that old amd and it will perform marvelously on blender, just remember to enable it on the projects you run, you will see the change, big change

on photoshop, i don't remember if it affects or not, haven't used it in years

http://www.nvidia.com/object/adobe-photoshop-cc.html

there it mentions quadro cards but these gtx are as good as those, anyway, once you get it and if you have problems enabling it on the projects, there is lots of manuals for adobe...

Get a GTX 1060 6gb for $250 is the best bang for the buck card right now from Nvidia and it will literally murder your old 6950

there is also manual for amd, but the cuda cores do win on those tools so you don't see much people using them there
