Looking to upgrade my CPU on Asus Mobo

Hello guys, honor to be posting here. I bought a stock Asus G11CD a few months ago and would like to upgrade some of its components with my tax return. My goal is, is to keep the mobo if I can, and in turn keeping the case as well, but part of me thinks I should sell the whole damn thing and build a fresh one. Thoughts?

Anyhow, assuming I just upgrade what I have, I am getting a gtx 1080, new power supply, more ram and lastly, i need to upgrade my CPU for bottlenecking issues with the 1080.

Currently, I have a 6th Gen i5 6400 @ 2.7 GHz, yuck.
I'm looking into an i7 6700k @ 4.0 GHz.
PC Specs: https://www.asus.com/us/Tower-PCs/G11CD/specifications/

My issue; Can I use the i7 6700k in the stock Asus mobo? Also, will it have issues with cooling? Same goes for my GPU, I notice my 970 starts to overheat when I push it too hard, so I'm hoping I won't have an issue with the 1080, since it will run everything with ease at my resolution.

Any advice welcomed, thanks in advance.

I don't understand how to do such a thing, also, is my Intel H110 compatible with a Kaby lake? Would it be best to just buy a new mobo?

Thank you for that response, I will be sure to do so.

Other questions I have;
Will the stock cooler for the i5 suffice if I upgrade to the i7 6700k?
Can I go past 2133 for my RAM, i.e, is say, 3200 compatible with my current setup?
Thanks.

I am in process of trying to get this to work as well, I've already successfully flashed the bios of my g11cd to 904 yet the PC refuses to boot with my new i7-7700K. Are you sure 904 has the same kaby lake support as 401/201? Already fought with it taking it in and out, resetting bios and nothing, old i5-6400 boots just fine.

EDIT: I've done plenty of testing and I just cannot get it to POST with i7-7700K. I even tried to flash to 401 and 201 but it says "Selected filed is not a proper BIOS!" but it let's me downgrade to any other BIOS just fine. Downgrading didn't let me update to 401 or 201 either.

Have you figured this out? I also cannot get to POST with a 7600 with 0901 installed. Also cannot load 0401 or 0201.

I unfortunately had to give up after asking around and receiving no answers, I just bought Z270 motherboard, a new case and a PSU and built the thing from scratch basically. I simply assume their website lies about Kaby Lake support or that those are meant for some newer version of GC11D somehow. Tough luck, but you should either return the 7600 or do what I did and just rebuild the rest of the PC around your new CPU at this point.
