Low FPS after new CPU

As the title says, I recently bought a new CPU (i7-2600) to replace my old (i5-2300). But when I played some games I noticed i would get lower frames with new and stronger CPU while I didn't change any settings. I've looked around the settings and turned everything that could be the issue off and put everything on lowest settings but still I don't get a lot of FPS and i'm pretty sure the GPU is connected properly since when I put the cable in the mobo it gave even lower FPS. I've already reset my BIOS with the "cmosclr" pins and I have no clue what to do now.

My rig:
i7-2600
MSI GTX960 2GB
ASRock Z75 Pro3
8,00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 933MHz (kingston)
500W sharkoon power supply

My monitor: BenQ XL2411
And i'm running windows 8.1 pro.

Thanks for reading.

I can't tell if this is a troll post or not.

Going from a i5 2300 to an i7 2600, whilst technically an upgrade, is a waste of money and not something anyone should do unless they were given the i7 for free.

Clock speeds are near identical between the two, so i can only imagine you had some form of overclock on the 2300 (highly unlikely given your motherboard), or your RAM is tthe issue - if it actually is only running at 933mhz, then it should be about double that.

What are your temps and what is your cooler? The i7 runs hotter and your cooler might not be up to the task. Also most sharkoon psu's are crap and this might also be an issue because of the higher power consumption of the i7.

The CPU temp is usually about 30°C and i'm using the Cooler master: Hyper 212 evo.
And the power consumption isn't that much higher then the i5's I think.
