I have a GTX 760 2gb. I am considering purchasing a used GTX 970 4gb for £165, a new GTX 1050Ti for £150 or a GTX 1060 6gb for £240.

Is the 1060 well worth the extra 50%?

I appreciate the fact that the 970 is already nearly 3 years old.

I'd also like to take into account how much I'm likely to be able to resell each of those cards for in a couple of years time.

Thanks for your help.

that sounds like a good idea, your current gpu can hold a bit more, but no idea when the 11 series will come, theoretically at the end of the year or the beggining of the 2018

there is still no vega from amd and no gtx1080ti, that is some months more, nvidia surely will revea a 1080ti but wouldn't replace it the same year with a 11 series i think, but they could end revealing 11 series, no 1080ti and surprise us all, amd included

Wikipedia indicates the 900 series was released around September '14, n 10 series May '16. Judging by that I guess the 11 series could appear around the beginning of next year. Will see if I can live with my GTX 760 for that long.

I've never spent more than 160-170 on a card, which is why I'm hesitant to blow 240 on the 1060.

There's also the question of how many newer titles I'm likely to play.

I'll have to make these decisions for myself of course.

Thanks again

the good thing is that newer cheaper gpus are now so good that a cheap 1050ti has sense and the price is quite decent, same from rx series

so you do have many options and time to make a decision on what to buy, perhaps you end up buying a 1070 and the 1060 ends forgotten
