I've decided to experiment with overclocking this card
.

As you can see by the screenshot below, despite overclocking both the core and memory to +1000+, my temperatures don't get anywhere higher than 28C.

My question is, is it safe to run clocks this high? Should I first test the clocks with a benchmarking tool? I plan on getting a new GPU in around 9 months but I don't want to damage this one obviously.

Solution

The game will most likely crash and the system will lock up so you will have to press the systems reset button to recover. There are thermal and voltage limits hard-coded in the graphics card's BIOS to prevent the card from self-destructing.

Well, I can say I'm hesitant to run a game with clocks that high, I'm not sure if I can cause any damage with clocks, I assumed it was only temperatures that can cause serious damages but I'm sure I could be wrong, which is why I'm here.
