PC Wireless Internet Very Slow

About 8 months ago we moved to a place that's pretty far from normal civilization (i.e. A large town/city) and since then I have not had any sort of issue regarding my wireless internet connection for my PC. But recently I have noticed things really starting to bog down, YouTube videos buffering down to 144p and having trouble loading other internet reliant things. My router is on the other side of the house down stairs and we are renting the place so I don't have many options for ethernet connection. I do have a phone port just under my desk but I am not sure if that has anything to do with this. Thank you!

Solution
UPDATE: I figured it out, silly of me; All I had to do was press on the Push n' connect button on my adapter and race downstairs to my router and press the push n' connect there and now I have a blue light and my internet is back to normal.

What's you provider? What type of internet do you have? What plan do you use? What antenna do you use for your computer?

Some providers like Comcast are just really bad and you should never have them unless it's the only option.

If you have dial-up, then you should definitely get broadband.

For 144p, that shouldn't be happening even with a cheap plan with 2mb/s, unless you've been scammed somehow.

Your antenna might not be able to detect a type of connection your router has, and it might not be good enough too.

Try moving your computer downstairs close to your router see if that helps. If it does, then you're likely experiencing interruptions between your computer and the router if you have 4-5 bard upstairs.

My provider is Comcast, but we've had them for a while and I have not experienced this level of internet issues. And I do not use dial-up, I upgraded from that a long time ago. But after about 2 hours of use my internet becomes a little bit faster but I am still experiencing interruptions with YouTube videos. But After a fresh start of my computer, YouTube videos are completely impossible to even watch, but after two hours it goes to 240p without being able to go up to 720p or 1080p.

Try getting something like a Netgear AC600. It sounds like your antenna is the problem. An AC600 should be able to detect all types and is 10/100/1000 mbps. You can get it for around $35 at walmart.

So I think I figured out the source of the problem, just not the solution. My wireless USB adapter (WNDA 3100 v3) has a steady amber light and I have read on other forum pages this results in dismal internet speed, like what I have now. But I tried disconnecting and reconnecting, unplugging and plugging back in. The only thing I have not tried is to install driver updates.
