Ethernet slower than wifi!

So I have been having a ton of issues since november. Recently this issue has been on and off. I also freshly installed windows again recently.

My ethernet is exceptionally slower than my wifi. I have complained to comcast and they ended up finding an illegal cable box hooked up which was inducing interference into the network. This was not the solution to the problem. At first it was only over ipv6 now it is both 4 and 6. My desktop does not have wifi either. On the desktop with ethernet I will get 20Mbps when I should have 250Mbps. if I test it through my phone on wifi I get the full 250Mbps... Disabling and re-enabling the connection will give me back the faster speed for a little while.

Any idea of what is going on?

What I mean by type is cat1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7probably came out already. When the older versions were made like cat1-4, gigabit ethernet wasn't really a thing or never even existed so they were only 10/100 Mbps. You should get cat5 or 6 for that speed, although I've heard nowadays wi-fi is sufficient enough, not that I'm a wi-fi fan.

What type of ethernet do you have? If it's an old generation it might not be able to handle the load, and plus comcast is the worst. Go for a different provider if you don't want to have have constant headaches, actually more like head-cracks.

How do I find out what my ethernet adapter can do? If that were the case wouldn't the speed always be slow though? Not intermittently slow? Also would disabling and reenabling the connection not speed it up temporarily if that were the case?

My Ethernet adapter is strictly through my Mobo. I have an Asus Z97-A / USB 3.0 board.

My specs say 10/100/1000Mbps
