So I have a Windows 10 PC and I noticed that my MAC address for my Intel AC 8260 wifi card is almost always different than it was the last time I looked at it. I use QoS on my internet and I always find myself going back to the router's settings and adding my PC back to the QoS because my mac address is different a lot. Can someone please explain to me why it is changing
and how to possibly stop it? I am not using any sort of 3rd party wireless software either.

Solution
MAC addresses are hard encoded in the firmware of the NIC, they can not be changed only "spoofed" using third party software. This is an interesting problem, have you looked through all the setting for the NIC under device manager?? If you run ipconfig /all from command prompt what does the MAC display as for that adapter?

I run that command quite frequently and somehow, it's still different sometimes. I did change my wifi card about 6 months ago, but still like you said, the MAC address is assigned to that card and it has only been recently that the MAC address has been changing. I use the Betternet VPN sometimes. Would that have anything to do with it?
