Got an I5 3470 and a GTX 1050 with a shitty non certified PSU.
I need to buy a new PSU, what should I buy and why?
EVGA 500w 80+ (Save money for other upgrades) or a NZXT 550w 80+ Bronze Hale82 v2 550w Full Modular?

Solution
I keep hearing this "CX series are not reliable at all, have fluctuating power outputs and should generally be avoided. The CXM series on the other hand are very good PSU's."

I have been using for YEARS CX650w and CX750w PSU (green label) and have had ZERO issues.
then again I dont overclock the snot out of any of my components, Could that be why ?

I would recommend a CX550 for budget reasons or CX550M if you prefer Modular.

CX series are not reliable at all, have fluctuating power outputs, built with cheap parts and have a high failure rate when under stress. They should generally be avoided. The CXM series on the other hand are very good PSU's.

Personally i would say go with an EVGA SuperNOVA (G2+ G2+ if you can afford one), very reliable with high quality parts. Mine has powered 2 different machines over the course of 4 years and is still going strong.

As i said at the end of it under stress they struggle, if you arent going to be putting much power through them just running regular everyday tasks on a PC they're fine.
The CXM's (as far as im aware) are a newer refresh than the CX and so are using higher quality and newer parts, i imagine once the CX gets a refresh they will be viable choices again.

Oh crap you're right. I remembered the CX part but not the M, good looking out totally my bad sorry about that. I personally only use the HX series, but seems that might be out of this person's price range.
