Hey,guys I have a core 2 quad q9500 2.83GHz,6GB RAM,Windows 8.1 Pro,nvidia geforce gtx 460.So I'm just future planing well I is AMD FX series is better then my core 2 quad because I have seen that AMD fx-series like this one AMD FX-6300 3.5 GHz this one has 6 cores and mine quad core has 4 cores so is Amd fx series are for today games????And my quad core has 7 rating so fx series has mostly 8 rating buy i'm little confuse in prices and on the other is 4 core i5 is better then 6 or 8 core FX-series if yes then plz tell me better AMD series and what is the max limit of FX series and please tell me which series is budget able and which is equal to i5 but cheaper then it :) waiting For the reply :)

Solution
the old fx line is a dead line. the newer ryzen cpu from amd are dropping soon they use newer and cheaper ddr4 ram and have newer usb ports and sata and mb chipset over the older fx that going on 5 years old now. the newer amd cpu should be under intel price and latter in the year are newer amd apu. for a entry level gaming system now look at the i3 and a b or h270 chipset. when you have the funds swap the cpu out for an i5. or if you can look at the locked i5 if your close to a micro center look at there cpu and mb combo deals.

No, the AMD Athlon X4 is older and worse than FX. He's telling you to go Intel now if you need the PC or wait for AMD to come out with the new Ryzen processors this March.

Just because it was released at X time period, doesn't mean it's not EOL... Face the facts, AMD has used the same architecture since socket 754 (don't quote me on that one, pretty sure it has been the same base idea) up till now, they just refined it each generation squeezing out what they could. Wait for Ryzen, or grab an i5, but I suggest waiting for Ryzen before you do anything.

If you want something cheap and now, grab an i5 and generic $50 motherboard.

No the FX9xxx series are awful. They use a ridiculous amount of power and produce a huge amount of heat. You need a very high end motherboard and cooling setup to run them and even then many people report stability problems. Even after all that you end up with a CPU that is easily outperformed by any modern i5 on a cheap motherboard.

There are no 'good' AMD CPU's for gaming at the moment, the Athlon X4 is nominally a quad core part but those cores are so slow compared to an Intel one you get worse performance than a dual core (i3) CPU from Intel. Listen to what people are saying to you and if you need to buy right now pickup an Intel CPU or hold onto your money and look at what Ryzen has to offer.

The Ryzen range is likely to start with a 4 core/4 thread part that should blow away the Athlon at the very least. Don't waste your money on a CPU with zero prospect of you being able to upgrade without replacing the motherboard and memory that is already substandard when you install it.

Why don't you state your budget and we'll suggest a motherboard/cpu/memory combination that fits it.

Q9550 is an old cpu tech, many modern softwares require SSE4.2. Even i5 2500 non K is better than Q9550, and you can play games with non K cpus, i7 6700? even a skylake i3 will give you a decent performance for gaming. You have roughly $400 that is (pardon me) a bit difficult to build a decent gaming PC. I suggest you to wait save a little more for ryzen or buy an used parts that are available in your local second hand store/forum.

For low budget setup, you can find it here http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-3314070/builds-2017-500-budget-category.html

Intel Core i5-6400 2.7GHz Quad-Core Processor is better or Intel Core i5-3470 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor and which one is more budget able??

Who told you non K are not good for gaming, that is very wrong. The K series just gives you an unlocked multiplier and allows you to overclock. While this can give some gains in cpu heavy games when running high fps on high end GPU's you definitely do not 'need' to overclock for gaming. Also you can overclock for benefits other than gaming or just because you want to, for some overclocking is more of a hobby.
