I Upgraded my pc tonight . The fans, GPU and pcu CPU, HDD and external HDD starts but no video? May I have hooked up cables wrong or is something dead?
When I cycle the pc the video doesn't turn on. When I try to cycle it off through the power switch it doesn't turn off. A local shop said the mobo was grounded and I fixed that issue. But the problem is still there. If the CPU isn't on correctly could it be causing the issue?

I don't have model numbers right now, but these are the specs
Mobo- Msi 970a krait sli edition
CPU- fx 8350 black edition
Gpu - GTX 1050ti
PSU- 750 watt EVGA

What parts did you upgrade?

Did you plug back in the 8 pin cpu power connector?
Did you match up the arrow of the CPU to the slot (if it is inserted right then it shoudl require almost no force to get it in, if it required some force to insert it then you probably put it in wrong and probably bent some pins.
Does your GPU require 6 pin power connector?

No I wish I could post a picture of it. The CPU fit with no force. Which 8 pin connector the one at the top of the case? I used a CPU 2 connector to connect it together?

OP said the CPU, HDD, and GPU all got power when pressed buttons, thus his power button is connected to motherboard properly

Yeah there should be an 8pin connector at the top of the motherboard (might be only 4, but most all 970 chipset boards use 8 due to supporting the 125w AMD cpus. You need to have the 8 pins of CPU power from your PSU connected to this.

No, the 8 pin is connected to the top. The hdmi is connected to my gpu. My mobo does not have intergrated graphics. It just doesn't cycle off with the power button, the led when I power it in flashes like normal. No video and no signal being recieved by the monitor

Try booting computer with only 1 stick of ram (may need to consult mobo manual to see which slot for single stick config)
Then try booting with the other stick.

Otherwise I will have to assume you damaged your motheroard with the grounding/short.
Hopefully it only damaged the baord and not CPU/RAM.

I would either purchase baord locally or shop test a new board, because if you have to replace motherboard + something else you might as well get a new modern platform instaed of sinking money into old am3 platform.
