Background: At my work, we use several trailers linked together as our main office. Unfortunately, these trailers block signal very effectively from our main AP, so I had set up a Linksys WRT54G (v3.1) router in a second location to help. We have several Ethernet cords running from our main switch (the Netgear, which is the DHCP server) to several wall-mounted hubs, which then are connected to our desktops. The switch is connected to a MRV OS906G-M fiber optic router.
Some of us use our own laptops for some things, which brings us back to the connectivity problem. One of the cords from the switch runs to the Linksys router, and it actually worked for a while. However, at some point overnight, the switch seems to have stopped allowing the Linksys router to obtain a valid IP address. I've already tried MAC cloning and have updated the firmware to the latest version.
We had a network consultant over a couple of weeks ago for looking into some unrelated network upgrades, but I managed to ask him about this problem. He said that that specific model of switch had problems with linksys routers after they've been running for a while, and the solution was to reboot the switch. That didn't seem to solve the problem, though.
