so i have been having temp spikes at idle that would shoot to 50 then drop to 30 so i went to BIOS to notice that the voltage is at 1.32 and runs at 4400 mhz

so i tried to do a stress test using prime95 and it didnt pass 70 but after like 4 mins it jumped drastically to 85 and to be frank i stopped fearing an overheat is imminent, and while playing battlefield 1 it reaches 70

my specs are:
i7 7700k
MSI 1070 Gaming gtx
600 CM PSU
16gb ram
1tb HDD
H170-3 Gaming Motherboard

and I tried to reapply TIM and it dropped like 2c at BIOS

i would really like some insight on this matter, i googled and found people having similir problems

Solution

Where is says auto for CPU voltage in BIOS, click on it and change to 1.2VCore.
Now boot up your system. If the boot fails, increase voltage by 0.025 increments.
If the boot succeeds, use stress tests like Prime 95 for a few hours. If in these hours the CPU doesn't have any errors or crashes, lower to voltage to 1.150VCore. Repeat the above steps.

Don't use the auto voltage function in the BIOS. The BIOS will always use more voltage than necessary.

By stress testing for long hours, find out what your minimum stable voltage is at stock clocks and keep it at that.

ok so i lowered the voltage to 1.25 and things went waay better now, i ran prime95 for 30 mins and seeing how unrealisticly stress it does and the cpu temp was maximum at 70, this is much better since it was 85 and rising

and also bf1 now runs at max 61c which is good i think.

so does it mean i am good atm?

You are, but you could probably go lower if you wanted to.

Try slightly higher than 1.225, like maybe 1.240, or 1.230.

Every little decrease takes off a few degrees!
