Should I wait to upgrade?

Guys and Gals need advice.

Currently I am unsure if I should upgrade my PC or not mainly I'm talking about graphics cards and monitors but in general just upgrade I got the system back in May and this is my first ever gaming PC (I'm not part of the know it all master race as of yet)

SPECS:

PSU - RMi Series™ RM750i — 750 Watt 80 PLUS® Gold Certified Fully Modular

Motherboard - ASUS ROG Max VIII Ranger Z170

CPU - Intel i7 6700k OC @ 4.6GHZ

GPU - EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti SC+ ACX 2.0+

RAM - 16GB (2x8GB) Corsair DDR4 Vengeance LPX 3000MHZ

SSD - 500GB Samsung 850 Evo

HDD - WD Blue 3TB

Monitor - Acer Predator XB271HU

Sorry if I have included specs that are irrelevant but would rather post all of it then add it later.

Being smart is it really worth me upgrading now to the new sets of pascal cards or should I wait for the next generation after?

I am happily gaming at 1440p and I'm not sure I wanna make the jump to 4K yet as personally I don't feel it has fully been pushed into PC gaming as I think the monitors are holding it back with the 60hz refresh rates, although I know this will change soon with the Asus ROG PG27UQ announced at CES and I believe Acer announced a new 4K monitor.

Should I wait it out say for a year or more and stack the money and or should I upgrade now? If I were to upgrade my GPU it would be to a TITAN X or 1080TI (if announced at PAX) or if it really came to it SLI either of those cards at a very expensive push!

Looking for some opinions & the last thing I wanna do is pull the trigger to early and regret it later down the line.

Cheers.

You have an excellent system.
Do not change until it no longer does the job you need done.

When the time comes to upgrade to a 4k monitor, go ahead and do that first. Then you will get a better idea if you will need stronger graphics for your games.

A while ago, I upgraded to a 40" Philips 4k monitor using a GTX780.
It ran respectably but not at 60fps so I upgraded to a GTX980ti because I had a better idea of what I needed.

for gpu, i would wait till volt comes out.

and swapping to ryzen only if you have software that would actually make use of 8C/16T, otherwise waste of money.

and unless your getting paid for gaming, maybe something like the asus pb328q but as gsync edition (or similar), as most people i know running 120/144Hz screens are back using gsync (instead of high fps) and experiencing no tearing while still getting smooth gameplay.
