Hey Tom's HW forum,
I was wondering if anyone has some advice to help me unbrick a nice router.
It came to me as broken so I'm not sure which current FW is on it since i can't access anything in it.
Upon first trial, i got no lights on the wifi LEDs, only the power and Lan.
I tried pressing the wifi button and that didnt do anything.
I tried pressing the LED button just for kicks, and nothing happened.
When connected to my laptop via ethernet cable from port 4 I am getting no connection and cannot get to the web interface (192x168.etc.etc).
I've read all sorts of web posts mostly over at SNB as well as a youtube video.
I've been able to turn it off, hold reset, turn on while holding reset, which gets it into recovery mode. The power button will go into a slow blink letting me know its in recovery mode.
I downloaded the asus utility from asus's website (latest one) and tried uploading the latest FW, but the utility tells me that it cant see the router and that i need to put it in recovery mode....but its already in recovery mode.
I did all these things with the IPV4 modified per tips i read online, and then even retried the web GUI to try that again and no luck.
Anyone have any advice on this subject? I'd really love to get this working as it's supposed to be a great router and a huge upgrade from my current one.
