Graphics Card Behaves Oddly Just After Startup

Hi everyone,

I've been experiencing a strange issue with my graphics card (or at least I think the GPU is the problem). Shortly after startup, if I attempt to open a program, search windows, or do any task whatsoever, the screen goes black for a brief moment and then returns. Occasionally I'll get some odd artifacting. This only happens just after startup. Once the computer has been running for a few seconds, I no longer experience these issues.

My GPU currently has no overclock on it (R9 380). My CPU (I5-6600k) is overclocked to 4.5ghz on 1.31v. It is stable in RoG Realbench in an 8 hour test. I have also run intel's burn test and Aida64. No stress test of the GPU (including furmark) causes any artifacting or crashes. My drivers are up to date.

Any idea what the issue is? Should I be concerned?

Thanks for the help.

First of all, I would test the card by taking it out of the system so that we can know for sure that it's the GPU that's the problem. Also, to be sure, launch the BIOS and check which graphics configuration is set to start with the OS. Sometimes it's the integrated graphics and sometimes it's the discrete graphics card.

Once you are sure that it's the R9 380, I would recommend using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) (http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html) to remove all traces of the current drivers on the card. I would then install the last stable driver you had and see if you're still having problems.
