Hi everyone! ive been using a 500GB toshiba disk since 2012. i allocated about 50 Gb for the system like 2 years ago. Right now iam out of space in my C drive, and i dont have any applications to delete. i already moved all of the download files and after that barely 1 gb left in the C drive. i still have 70Gb space left in other drives. is there a way i can extend my C drive easily without losing my files? iam using windows 10 right now :) thanks

Oh ya, cloning and changing the drive size is really easy, there are a handful of programs available for that, I tell people I like Acronis True Image, but Macrium Reflect is good and a few others too that I don't recall right now, but ya, cloning easy, some of the higher end SSDs...
If you could delete the partition right next to it on the disk then I think it's possible. Once deleted use the win 10 disk manager to go in and extend the partition. You won't lose files on C: but deleting the partition next to it will delete the files in that section (duh). If you get the wrong partition deleted then you'll have to try again. In theory it should be the next drive letter in the alphabet, but when you put windows on the disk it probably made a couple partitions that you maybe don't see, and those would need to be deleted, and that's kinda a pain. Windows won't let you delete them because they're windows partitions, but they're not, strictly speaking, necessary. I know it may be a little late, but I always leave extra space for windows to grow on the drive cause years ago I had to reformat and reinstall a lot, like once a month, and you just get used to separating everything in the beginning to make the reinstall process that much easier/faster.

um i dont think this will work for me. by deleting the partition next to the c will make my files deleted. if i have my files backed up it might work but, non of my files are being backed up. :( i need to know atleast is there a way or not. anyway thanks for your methode :) And if there's a way i can clone my C drive and install it to a new drive ill forget about this storage extending methode, cause i can get a 1 tb drive if its possible to clone easily

okay that's seems relaxing for me. but i'm not going to buy a higher end SSD for now i might buy a 120GB or 240Gb if i can. i have couple products available in the local store. Kingston SSDNow UV400 120GB/Toshiba Q300 120GB SATA 6Gbps Solid State Drive. will it be enough to the cloning process? my C drive is like 50 GB. And can you tell me the instructions to do the cloning process. thank you :)

I've only done the cloning process a few times, and only with Acronis True Image (which is kinda spensive, but I've been using it for years so I stick with it, I know it works). The free 30 day trial of True Image, you can't clone a disk, but make a full back up of your C: drive, and check the options to only back up the data, not the free space and such like that, then put your new drive in and restore the backup to that drive and when you do just select to make the drive bigger. It sounds daunting, but really, if you mess around with it for a small while it's pretty easy, and if you leave your original C: in tact, make the backup (you'll have to restart and it will load a True Image thing so you're not in windows for the backup), then restore, put the back up on the extra space you have on your drives all ready, you can choose anywhere to save the backup, then you'll actually have two copies of your C: drive in case one gets messed up somewhere.
