Running Unsupported Games In Windows XP

I've found someone on the Battle.net forums asking about running Overwatch on his Windows XP Laptop (https://eu.battle.net/forums/en/overwatch/topic/17612332752?page=1#post-5). At the bottom, someone suggesting writing a code to mask XP as 7. Is this possible?

LOL - compatibility involves a lot more than just kidding the game in to thinking it's a different Windows version - - the whole idea is ridiculous :lol:

It has been done exactly as you described in Windows 2000. There could be something like this, if people put effort into it.
