Alright guys, so my specs are

Gtx 1050
Fx 6300
Am3 + mobo
650w psu
8 gb ram

I plan on upgrading my pc this next month for streaming and higher end gaming, right now I'm purely on a budget build.

I would like to hear some thoughts on the subject, should I wait for Ryzen cpus and am4 motherboards, or dump amd and go sky and kaby lake? I would love to know what would be cheapest, I have a baby girl so my money is in the 600 dollar range.

Don't worry about what Gpu I'll be picking, I'm going to grab the 1060 6gb.

And yes, OC'ing will be an important factor.

Games I'll be playing

Csgo
Rainbow six
Resident evil 7
Bf1
And other triple A games.

The waiting game . . . . there will always be something on the horizon.

That said, wait for Ryzen if you wish, we are all hoping for a competitive product at a competitive price. (I hope they can deliver as competition is always good.)

If not, go with kabylake as it's the newest platform available and price difference between Skylake and Kabylake are negligible.

If you are able to wait a month, I would recommend to wait ryzen. You'll be able to compare amd zen vs intel core in order to get the best performance/price platform.

If you want now, go with intel.

Regards

Wait.

We still don't know the pricing of Ryzen processors or the motherboards which will support them. At the time of writing, I'm unaware of how Ryzen will be released either; too many unknown variables to take into consideration from a cost perspective.

Intel's pricing is a known quantity. Typically their prices really don't fluctuate much. Some are anticipating Ryzen being competitive enough for Intel to change their pricing in response. This remains to be seen.

I, myself, am planning to upgrade my system. And I heard that Intel is coming out with new CPUs (7740K, I think) to compete with AMD's. I will wait for the benchmark reviews on Ryzen in March and from there I will decide whether to go for Intel or Ryzen in terms of price-performance ratio. Either way, there's nothing to lose because you will get the best out of those 2. Am neither an Intel or AMD fanboy, but just a typical tech consumer.

Wait for RyZen. It's coming out in early March, which is less than 1 month away. Techspot states AMD will release 8 core CPUs for as low as $317. If it has anything close to Haswell level IPC performance, then AMD Ryzen 8 cores will demolish all Intel cpus in their price range. (Intel's Skylake and Kabylakes are barely better than Haswells, with maybe 5-10% max improvement due to IPC and the rest due to a higher stock clockspeed)

Either way, Intel will be releasing new stuff and dropping their prices. Folks say Intel is releasing a hyper threaded i5 quad core (so 8 threads) and a hyper threaded Pentium dual core because they're afraid of what AMD Ryzen will bring to the competition.
