My computer is shutting down randomly

My PC has been doing this for a month. At first I thought that it was my PSU that's been doing this because my GPU was way slower, so i replaced my PSU and my GPU turned back to normal but my PC was still shutting down. Is it possible that my CPU's doing this?

AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 245 2.91 Ghz
4gb RAM (2x2gb)
Windows 7 Ultimate
AMD Radeon HD 5450 512mb
Spire ATX 500W E1 PSU

Solution
With AMD's stock cooler, more case fans inside the case (thus getting better airflow) would help more than just replacing thermal paste between CPU heatsink and CPU chip.

On idle, my AMD's CPU was also around 60°C since the case that came with AMD build (Codegen ATX-308-CA-USB/Audio) had only 1x 80mm rear exhaust. I switched out the case (Chieftec GIGA SERIES DF-02B-U3) and got 1x 120mm intake, 1x 120mm bottom intake, 2x 120mm side intake and 1x 120mm rear exhaust. After that, my AMD CPU idles around 40°C and under load gets up to 80°C.

Check your temps. My best bet is that your CPU overheats and thus, your PC shuts down.

Your PC specs is very similar to my AMD build (full specs in my sig) and i too experienced random shutdowns due to the CPU overheat (got 102 degrees Celsius from CPU before shutdown). Ended up buying a new case to improve cooling performance of my old AMD build. (Oh, i also have HD 5450 GPU since it came with my AMD build when i bought it. Also ended up upgrading my GPU to HD 7770.)

For monitoring temps, i use little program called Speccy,

Just set your system tray icon to show CPU temp and monitor it.
