hi im confused whether to go for rx 460 or gtx 1050

Originally i was going for the nvidia because it has like 200+ more clockspeed which is more than 10% more power than 460

But my cpu is an a10 7860k.. My friend said i could have better performance with the rx because of "brand compatability" amd to amd

How true is this? Which do you think i should go?

Solution

clockspeed between different architectures is a meaningless comparison point

also nvidia gpu + amd cpu tends to perform better than amd + amd

if the gpu's were equal in terms of performance

it takes an intel cpu to properly run an amd gpu

gtx 1050 is a lot faster than a 460

easily more than 10%
The only case where you would see a benefit in "brand" compatibility would be with crossfire support on your 7860k. An r7 250 would crossfire with your APU. *note that adding an R7 250 to your PC would not improve performance as much as adding a 1050 TI, despite crossfire compatibility*

The 1050 and 460 would both work fine in your PC, with no added problems coming from the Nvidia.

a 1050 TI is about 30% more powerful than a 460.
