I have an Intel Pentium G3420
8gb ram 1600mhz
500watt power supply

I want to buy an gtx 1050ti, is a bad idea?

P.s. I wanted to buy an i5 4460

Solution

The PSU requirement won't change with the different CPU. And the performance will increase a bit. If you upgrade the CPU to the i5, then the GPU will be able to give you 100% usage at all times. The Pentium dual core would have held it back at times.

yeah, that's a fake 500W PSU. Looks like the specs you'd find on a 400W. But still good enough for the GTX 1050 Ti.
The dual core and the 1050 Ti will give good frame rates at 720p resolutions. You'll have to back off on some settings if you game at 1080p. Online gaming on a busy server will be somewhat sluggish due to the dual core. But the gfx card is good.
