I am on a new build. Was planning to get the 1080ti as a single card...and then it didn't come out. Now I'm stuck with my two old 560ti's still. They are in adjacent slots on this new board instead of spaced apart as they were on my old board. The first card is getting too hot. I stop playing when I get into the upper 80's C. What are safe temps to play at without worrying about damaging the card (because it could be years until the 1080ti comes out...)?

Thanks.

My 21 year old son just recently upgraded from his 560 Ti's to a 1070. I had them overclocked 28% and temps topped out at about 82-84C (winter - summer). The card will go to 95C.

The trick here is to add a 120 mm fan (1500 rpm recommended) on the back of the HD cage. Phanteks is among the case manufacturers that provide pre-drilled holes precisely for this purpose. I have also used zip ties, silicon caulking and other means to mount one. My 25 year old has two 970s and a Phanteks case. Dada gave him a extra fan for Xmas and it dropped temps on the top card by 12C making both the same.

Looking now, I cuda saved $3 ! ($12 today)
