Best CPU Upgrade Path

I know this question has been asked, but I can't seem to find an answer that helps me. I'm planning a new build; haven't ordered the parts yet. I'm looking to keep it at or under $400. Now, regarding CPU sockets, which socket has the best price/performance starter CPU while still having a good upgrade path later on if the starter begins showing its age.
Sorry if this has been answered already, but all I could find on the forums seem to be about upgrade parts to preexisting systems.

Solution
Waiting for zen is a good option if you can, but if you need something now then the pentium and an LGA 1151 mobo are by far the best option for you
If you can wait for for 4-5 weeks, AMD will introduce its new CPUs and motherboards. They should be competitive to Intel products in features, performance and price. Even if you don't get an AMD CPU/board, you may find lower Intel prices in a month or two because of the increased competition in the market.

The g4560 is actually what I was planning on using unless anyone pointed anything I missed out. Glad to see my half-a$$ed educated guess wasn't far off.

And I was thinking the same thing. With Zen on the horizon. I figure older Intel stuff will drop in price, or at the least, Intel will pop their answer to Zen out of no-where.

Alright, I'm a little hesitant about jumping on Ryzen early on. I read new architecture and accompanying mobos usually have issues when the "first wave" is released.

Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely going to keep an eye on it. My poor little Acer Aspire D257 is getting me thru for now while I save up for my build, so I'm not in a big enough hurry to jump the gun and build a PC, and watch as Zen turns out to be the end of the Red and Blur war. That'd be my luck if I built it before Zen's launch.
