Losing frames during games

Hi, I'm not really sure if this is the right area for this but I'll post it here anyway.

I've been losing most of my fps randomly while playing games for the last 6-12 months but noticed that it's been getting particularly bad recently.

I can go from 120+ fps in csgo to 14 sporadically and without warning, I'm just moving and it happens, the same with overwatch.

I went and did a benmark test and these are the results:
UserBenchmarks: Game 57%, Desk 52%, Work 44%
CPU: AMD FX-8350 - 60.7%
GPU: Nvidia GTX 770 - 63%
SSD: Samsung 840 Evo 250GB - 46.2%
HDD: WD Green 3TB (2011) - 57.8%
RAM: G.SKILL TridentX DDR3 2400 C10 2x8GB - 42.7%
MBD: Asrock 970 Extreme4

It wasn't always like this, when i first bought the computer everything ran fine. I've had no problem with any game(csgo, overwatch, skyrim, witcher series, fallout series) until the last few months and it doesn't matter what the settings are changed to.

I've been eyeing off upgrading for awhile but it just wasn't necessary, even my old pc doesn't have these issues and it's not half as powerful as this one. I've tried researching, scanned for viruses, scanned for malware, checked drivers, done disk cleaning and nothing has helped. The only thing I can think of is that everything is just worn out but I don't know anything about computers.

Does anybody know what's wrong and how to fix it?

Solution
I would suggest using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller)(https://goo.gl/pFyRKC) to uninstall all traces of current or previous drivers in Windows Safe Mode. After this, I would then restart Windows and install the last stable driver that you had running with the card.

I would also suggest not using "Express Install" when installing the NVIDIA driver as sometimes this can cause problems.

I think it may be that but I'm not too sure. It does only seem to happen when my computer gets extremely loud from the fans and my room's hot. I downloaded HWMonitor and after about 2 hours of gaming, it says my top temp is 81c so I'm not sure if that's too high or not.

I'm thinking of going with a new 1070 anyway though but I'm pretty sure I'll need to upgrade other things in my pc.

If it isn't the temps (although 81C is starting to push the envelope on safe temps for the GTX 770), then it could be drivers. Have you tried using DDU (Driver Display Uninstaller) (https://goo.gl/SZx87Z) to uninstall and then reinstall the drivers?

What will happen if something goes wrong if/when i do that, and how would I go about fixing it if it does go wrong? The website says to create a restore point but for whatever reason, my computer won't allow one to be made, it keeps failing, so I'm not game to try it yet.
