Hi all, im basically quit the day job and now just working from home doing various things online. I have 3 computers here at home and wantewd to set up a secure network. Ive never done this before, do i need to buy one of these network hubs? Do i need a server? Id also like to add a My Cloud storage unit to my network. Ive have a house full of TVs so id also like to be to be able to easily access media files, aso i can watch movies thruough the house. Thanks alot guys

Id say it would be partly wired, and to include some TVs would need to be wireless also. I dont know what powerline is?

Your best bet is to start simple and then add as you find your requirements. You obviously are using your computers and internet somehow now.

The very simplest way is to plug all the computers into your current router but that would mean they are all in the same room or you have some method to run long cables to the remote rooms. If your current router does not have enough ports you would add a simple switch to get more ports.

What exactly you need is going to depend on how want things connected and where they are located.

I would start with just getting your devices connected I would ignore requirements for security and storage things to start. You really do not need to buy a separate data storage device since you have multiple computers. You can share files between the computers and other devices without buying extra hardware. I would start with that and as you learn then you can determine if you really need a actual media server.
