Please correct me if I say something wrong (new to pc components and pc's in general, built my pc a week ago) I have an Intel i7-7700k that I am not overclocking (atleast i don't think) with an ARCTIC Freezer 11 LP as a temporary cpu cooler until my AIO cooler comes in. Yet at idle my cpu is reaching temperatures of 40-50° and when running say battlefront I reach temperatures upwards of 80°-90°. Am I being lied to or did I do something wrong? Shouldn't my motherboard prevent my cpu from reaching those temperatures? I have good airflow, and i just built it so no dust accumulation, heat sink is correctly in place too. Please Help

Solution
Motherboard will only prevent CPU damage by shutting down the PC once temps reach 105C. You have high temps that will certainly impact performance in games (framerate drops), but this is purely due to the low-end cooler you are using at the moment. Once you get a proper cooler, temps will be just fine.
