Hi! I've got an ASUS M4A89GTD PRO motherboard. At the moment there's an old amd processor in it which runs perfectly.

I recently bought an AMD FX-8350 cpu which I want to put in my computer. I understand that I have to update the BIOS for it to work.

I tried the 2301, 3027 and the 3030 updates which I extracted the .ROM file to an USB memory.

I restarted my pc, entered BIOS, went to EZ flash and found my USB with the .ROM file and tried to begin the update, here's the problem:

"ROM file is not compatible with existing BIOS!"

Please give me some answer for this ive been trying for hours.. thx

Solution
Beta Support for some early model "Bulldozer" Microarchitecture FX CPUs was offered with very basic BIOS functions. Many BIOS functions were not available for things like overclocking. "Piledriver" Microarchitecture CPUs such as FX-8350 are not supported.

When flashing the BIOS, you need to select the file on the USB drive not just the drive itself.
