Hello,

I tried to build my own PC but somehow it does not work and right now I am out of options.

For my setup I choose at the start:

Gigabyte H110M S2PV DDR4 (http://www.gigabyte.de/Motherboard/GA-H110M-S2PV-rev-10#ov)
Intel i3-6100
RX480 Nitro+
Seasonic S12II-520 (https://seasonic.com/product/s12ii-520/)
I had an old 1TB HDD
Samsung Evo 850 250GB
Some DDR4 RAM with 2666Hz (sorry I forgot the exact name, but more later)

I never build a PC before only changed a part here or renewed my thermale paste, but I was confident that I would find all the things I needed. The CPU and RAM are in the supported lists for the mobo provided by Gigabyte.

I plugged everything in and it started, but rebooted after about 10 seconds without any display output on any port.

First I thought it was the mobo and sent it back and got a new one of the same model. Same result.

Then I contacted the support of the mobo. They told me to test some things:
- Test both memory slots -> Done, no result
- Reset the BIOS -> Done, no result
- Connect a motherboard speaker...

I had no speaker available so I had to buy one. With the speaker connected I got 5 long beeps on the boot.
These 5 beeps did not change except if I unplugged the CPU, then it just rebooted.

Again I contacted the support with the new info. They said it was corrupted memory. I looked up the beep code table, there it said CPU error. But I trusted the support and sent back my RAM, ordered another one. (https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00MTSX9Q8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

Again the same problem. 5 long beeps.

Then I sent back the CPU and it was tested. It worked perfectly at the tests. I ordered a new CPU and got back the cash from the old one. This time a i3-7100, which is also in the supported list of CPUs for the H110M S2PV.

Again the same problem...

Then I got desperate and changed the PSU to this one https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00DBIOFYA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. But no positive results.

All the time I tested both memory slots. I even tested if it worked if only 4 of the 8 pins for the CPU are connected. No results.

Right now I am out of ideas... The only things I could imagine is to buy another RAM and test it with two filled RAM slots or to buy a different mobo...

Here are some images. Maybe you see something that is not right.

Thanks for every help in advance.

Solution
7 series CPU on a 100 series MOBO without an updated BIOS will be an issue.

I know it does not explain the original issue but the updated issue with the new CPU will cause a problem.

Thanks for your replies.

I don´t saw any bend pins, but checked again.

I don´t see any now and it is the second mobo and second CPU. Having this many bend pins would be strange...

About the BIOS update. How would I do that. No CPU -> No BIOS -> No BIOS update -> No CPU... Is there a possibility to update the BIOS without a CPU?

But if this is all about the BIOS version, why didn´t the i3 6100 work.
It should work since BIOS version F1 which should be shipped with the mobo, because it is the first BIOS version...

But if you have no answer for this, I should just send back the CPU and mobo. Buy another mobo and the i3 6100?

Thanks for all your help.

The problem is that I send the i3 6100 back already and I had so many problems with this board even with the 6100,
that I just will buy a b250, send the 110 board back and keep the 7100.

Now it works.
With a b250 motherboard and the i3 7100 it finally works.

Thank you for all your help. Even though we did not find out why the h110 did not work with the 6100 it does not matter, because
it really works now.
